Revenge of the Chile

October 1-3,  2010                                                                                           Last modified:  Mar 19,  2010

Rules   (Digital Cameras now allowed)

Rally Packs with some additional information should be available online to all registered riders about 20 days in advance of the rally.  A brief synopsis of the LOE/1000 Rally rules is presented here and may be sufficient for experienced rallyists or past LOE/1000 riders.       However they may be expanded in some details by the LOE/1000 Rally Instructions, in the aforementioned Rally Packs, or at the Rider's Welcome Meeting Friday evening Oct. 1, 2010.  For example:  FOR THE 2010 LOE/1000 RALLY  PHOTO BONUS PICTURES from Digital Cameras WILL BE ALLOWED!!   See the web page for the LOE/1000 digital camera rules which may vary slightly from those in other Rallies.

Note:  Change in requirements for Photo Bonuses.          Link=>  Digital Photography Rules for 2010!!!

The 2010 Land of Enchantment 1000,  will be run with as much regard for safety as possible.  To that end we will limit entries to riders who have attained the age of 21 years, and hopefully the maturity that too seldom accompanies that age.  Passengers must be at least 18 years old.  Sorry, but exceptions can only be made in very extenuating circumstances and at the discretion of the RallyMasters.  No routes, bonus sites, or rules will be planned that would endanger the rider, but it is the responsibility of each rider to ride within the limits of their own individual riding skill or endurance.  Further, it will be the responsibility of each rider to have the following equipment and to show it at the pre-rally tech inspection:

First Aid Kit Suitable Tires with adequate tread depth
Driver's License with MC Endorsement Current License Plate and Registration
Proof of Liability Insurance Tool Kit  incl. Tire Kit

Tech Inspection:     The purpose of the pre-rally tech inspection is to mitigate the risks for riders and rally staff.  As such, this inspection in no way constitutes an endorsement by the rally staff that any rider, or their equipment, as inspected,  is "safe", or in "good  condition"  as these are relative terms.  It is solely for the purpose of discovering blatant safety or legal irregularities which may pose hazards or present a bad image of the LOE/1000 Rally.  The  RallyMaster or the Chief Technical Inspector may require deficiencies to be remedied before an entrant is allowed to ride in the rally; and their decision is final.

  And for 2010:   ------------------------------------------------
In addition to the release form signed on the rally entry form, riders must sign an additional form of "release/permission" at the tech inspection and should be prepared to provide an ID Tag for their own personal use during the rally.  In the interest of safety, communications, and accountablily we will REQUIRE that each rider wear an emergency information and identification tag on a lanyard.  You will not be leaving the starting line without one.

The LOE/1000 will supply attractive neck lanyards at rally check-in.  Each rider is required to supply
a laminated ID tag with the following information:

        Your Name
        Your Home Address
        Your Home Phone Number
At least one emergency contact, with name and phone number(s)

Optional information can include, but is not limited to, your physician's name and contact information,
medications being taken, allergies, and insurance information.

You can print such a card free at:    http://www.medids.com/free-id.php

This card should be laminated (in case of rain) and have a hole punched at one end
for the lanyard. The card and lanyard may be retained by the rider for further use.
Functionally similar tags, such as metal dog tags, are allowed if they contain the
          minimum required information.

During the rally each rider is expected to:

Wear a  DOT approved helmet Wear boots  and  gloves
Wear a long sleeved shirt or Jacket Carry a water bottle or such

Additional safety equipment and extra clothing is advisable given that the routes will certainly traverse both desert and mountain sections of New Mexico.  (You should take note that the Trinity Site,  a promised bonus location,  is on the Spanish trail called El Camino Real in that section referred to as the "Jornada del Muerto";   "Journey of the Dead Man").
