The Trinity SiteGround Zero of the world's first
nuclear blast
Rally organizers have carefully planned routes and schedules so that you may have the opportunity to visit this historic location which is located on the White Sands Missile Range and normally is not open to the public. Twice each year, on the first Saturday of April and of October, visitors are allowed onto the missile range to visit this site which witnessed the world's first nuclear detonation in 1945. Access is by motor vehicle through the Stallion Gate east of Socorro, New Mexico or by a bus caravan which leaves from the Otero County Fairgrounds. Some good advice: Don't use the bus for this rally... and... Watch your speed while on the the missile range and don't wander off the road, patrol vehicles are armed with .50 calibre weapons.
On the bright side, however, radiation levels at the site after 65 years are fairly low.... but heck, you won't be there too long because of the other interesting bonus sites we have prepared for you.
Due to heightened security measures following the September 11th terrorist attacks the Trinity Site was not open for the 2001 LOE/1000. Now is your chance to visit this historic site as it is anticipated to be open for the 2010 LOE/1000.
