Land of Enchantment 1000
Andale! Andale!
October 5-6, 2002
Last modified: October 20, 2002
The
2002 LOE/1000 Andale! Andale!, was completed at 7:00 AM on October
6, 2002. Thirty-four riders completed the rally.
Each of these toured about 1000 miles of
our Enchanting state in 24 hours
in a sort of scavenger hunt, visiting various sites and collecting
tidbits of information and photos of
some strange and unique places. All of these 34 riders
qualified for the SaddleSore 1000 award from the Iron Butt Association. (Note to riders: These certificates should be mailed out sometime
in November)
We
selected the fastest mouse in all of
New Mexico (Yes he
has emigrated now!) to be our mascot for this rally, and hopefully he encouraged riders to
"Hurry Up!" Our mascot’s urgings were intended as a hint
to riders not to dawdle at fuel stops or bonus sites but to get on with their
business, which is riding! If you riders
look at your rally shirts you will notice that due to the thin, dry, desert air
here Speedy was too fast for us to capture his image and we were left with just
a picture of his hat falling to the ground!

FEEDBACK: Each year at the LOE/1000
Rally we do something different, not always on purpose, but we always do
something different! So if any of you
riders liked something we did, let us
know and we’ll try and do it again.
If there was something you didn’t like….. well you could let us know that too, I guess….
